We interviewed Rocio Gonzalez, Medcor’s new Director of Revenue Cycle Management. She answers questions about her new role, why she loves technology, and even what’s on her bucket list.
What does your job entail?
It’s complicated for sure. Essentially, my goal is to optimize billing, collections, compliance, as well as denials management, and cost reduction measures. This means looking at the big picture and finding the gaps in the clinic’s revenue cycle process. Then we create and implement strategies to fix those gaps.
What’s the best part of your job?
Bringing new ideas and solutions to the table. Revenue cycle management may not seem like a very creative field but innovating, and problem-solving is actually a huge part of what we do. I also love developing new leaders. One of the things that bring me the most joy is seeing new leaders gain confidence in their abilities and then watching them create their own success stories.
What drew you to this industry?
I have always been interested in technology. I really enjoy using tech to make processes more efficient. I also love that healthcare is always changing. It certainly keeps us on our toes!
What do you do for fun?
I like to watch old movies and read books.
Favorite food?
I love to try new cuisines all the time. Right now, my favorite food is Cuban food.
What’s on your bucket list?
I love to travel; my goal is to visit as many countries as I possibly can. So far, I have visited seven countries and over 20 cities around the world.
